The biggest complaints with Hearts of Iron 4 are its terrible AI (they added a new automated army function that isn't exactly working that well, so the AI occasionally forgets things like fortifying a neutral front and moves troops around rather than entrenching them quite often) and the fact that it's far more casual than Hearts of Iron 3 (Greece can take over the world, for instance, and nations like Nepal and Tibet can produce nuclear warheads if they really want to). However, the AI is definitely having issues in this version. Personally I very much like it and bought the field marshal edition (plus, the DLC chain is a normal part of the newer Paradox games, although HoI3 only had 3).
